At Boss Truck Shops, we know our people are what set us apart. From complex diagnostics to late-night roadside rescues, our technicians are the backbone of our business. One tech who exemplifies that standard every day is Jared Wise, a Tech 4 at Boss Truck Shops #40 in Corbin, Kentucky.

From After-School Lessons to Master-Level Wrenches
Jared’s journey into diesel and heavy-duty truck repair started early—with hands-on training in his own backyard. Growing up, his older brother ran a commercial construction business, and Jared would race outside after school to watch him fix telehandlers, skid steers, and dump trucks.
“Little by little, it just clicked,” Jared says. “It was easier for me to grasp than most things, and I picked it up fast.”
Today, Jared brings more than four years of experience to Boss Truck Shops and holds ASE Master Technician and Advanced Level Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnostic certifications. His path from backyard apprentice to Tech 4 proves that passion, persistence, and hard work pay off.
A Tech Who Can Handle It All
When it comes to skillsets, Jared’s aren’t limited to one system or specialty. “I work on pretty much everything,” he says. “There’s not a job that comes through the door I won’t take on.”
Though he does his share of tire jobs, Jared is the go-to for engine diagnostics, aftertreatment systems, cooling systems, and more. He’s especially confident working with Cummins engines and Detroit DD13/DD15/DD16 platforms, calling them straightforward and well-built.
What Fuels Jared’s Efficiency? Ambition.
Efficiency and excellence go hand in hand—and for Jared, it’s not just about fixing trucks. It’s about doing what’s right for his family and his future.
“I’ve got a wife and three kids. We’ve never gone hungry,” Jared shares. “That’s all ambition. God’s helped me through a lot, but I’ve always come in with one purpose: get trucks in and out—and make sure they don’t come back.”
That mindset, backed by faith and fierce work ethic, is what keeps Jared pushing harder every day.
Respected by His Team, Relied on by His Shop
Jared’s leadership extends beyond the wrench. He’s the one coworkers come to for answers—whether they’re unsure of a diagnosis or just want a second opinion.
“There are people I keep close,” Jared says. “The ones with drive—you stick by them. When the shop’s firing on all cylinders, we’re a smooth-running machine. Everyone knows what to do, and the work just flows.”
Going the Extra Mile—Literally
When a customer needed help recently, Jared didn’t hesitate to extend his day. A fuel pump didn’t arrive until late afternoon, and instead of clocking out, he stayed late in the evening to finish the job.
Supported to Succeed
Jared credits the friendly atmosphere at Boss Truck Shops as a key reason he thrives.
“When I need tools, they get them for me,” he says. “And the service writers and managers? They’re rock solid. They handle the paperwork, the customers—everything that lets me stay focused in the bay.”
